i know Bush likes him much and set him on this path i just hope he is not Bush's rubber stamp... just my humble opinion.
No doubt, Ben Bernanke has impressive academic credentials. He was the director of monetary economics program at NBER (National Bureau of Economics Research) - a national academic think tank. Out of the 31 American winners of the Nobel Prize in Economics, 16 of them are NBER associates.
Bernanke also has practical experience outside of academia. He served as a member of the Board of Governors in the Federal Reserve System for 3 years.
Despite his strong academic background, Bernanke doesn't obfuscate. He is not expected to be another Greenspan who make convoluted speeches to the public to make them guess.
When the news broke out last October that Bernanke is selected to replace Greenspan, Wall Street liked the idea. The stock market went up.
