Exactly!
"Single-Use Products" like foam cups may release toxic chemicals
paper cups and plates are not good either they are coated with a layer of wax (it's a hazard to bring into cointact with hot food) therefore, they are highly environmental unfriendly, because they can't be recycles
i really wonder how can your friend stay healthy... i have the intuition that she's building up troubles...

"Single-Use Products" are not guaranteed to be cleaner than re-usable products. The coffee, milk/cream and sugar being served in the canteen are probably not in single-serving packages -- it's not economically feasible for canteen/coffee shops to do that. Only the paper cup is single-use. However, cockroaches and rats could still be lurking around in the canteen at night and even during daytime. The "safest" thing for your co-worker to do is to live life like Michael Jackson, inhaling special-formulated air and wearing gloves everywhere to avoid germs.
Being exposed to germs is not a bad thing, it builds up immunity.

you mean her physical condition? great! much better than mine! I think she has the misconception that one-use things are cleaner than reusable things~~~~whenever she goes to the canteen to buy a coffee or whatever, she would say "to go" so that the waiter would use a papar of foam cup to hold her coffee, despite she would sit down at the canteen to drink!]
but i have to say to "save" is comparatively passive...
commercial activities are the toughest enemy to the Earth theoretically, consumers' need should be satisfied however, the reality is just the opposite commercialists influence or control consumers' behaviours by advertising and "education" consumers spend money not for things they really need or even want, i.e. some kind of luxury, i would say those luxury can be fashion, packaging, "health products", etc.
even if everybody reuse plastic bags, use both sides of paper, recycle plastic, metal, and bottles, all these can't help much, as any manufacturing or recycling procedures involving industry would do great harm to the environment.... sewage consumption of water, fossil fuel producing more rubbish even recycling consume lots of energy
i believe the only solution is to lead a simple life to use less and the best is not to use whenever possible
consumption of resources and pollution caused by industry must be mutiple folds of that by domestic use. the commercialists would never cease to lure ppl to be insensible consumers...
i really hope ppl would become considerate and stop supporting the tyranny of commerce!
yet, i think the easiest way to help ppl in 3rd world and even the whole world is to be a vegetarian.
i don't think anybody can persuade her to change... leading such a life style is punishing oneself every minute every second ... but she can still go on without noticing any wrong...
