Hours later, friends came to lay flowers and pay respects to fallen friends. Friday morning, Route 300 was the scene of a horrific accident that killed two high school students and left two others seriously injured.9rX`M8

The carful of students was travelling west on Route 300 when the driver lost control of the Dodge Stratus and slammed into an oncoming Hyundai. Seventeen-year-old Andrew Davis, in the front passenger seat, was killed. Fifteen-year-old John Lopez, in the back seat, also died. The driver, Karon Lawerence, and another passenger, Jenna Neri, are hospitalized. The four teens were on their way to Wallkill High School, where the devastating news quickly spread. ClEVMY

It’s unclear what caused 17-year-old Karon Lawrence, who had three fellow teens in his car, to lose control as he tried to negotiate a curve about 7:15 a.m. near Orchard Drive, state police said.SdO~IU

Lawrence’s vehicle slid into the opposite lane, where it collided with another vehicle driven by 41-year-old Glenn Bo of Wallkill. A third car trying to avoid the accident wound up hitting Bo’s vehicle.Lem,0

State Police at SP Highland Barracks and Town of Shawangunk Police investigated the accident, which occurred about 7:15 a.m.4

Police said the driver of their car, Karon Lawrence, 17, of Wallkill, failed to negotiate a curve at a high rate of speed and slid into the path of an SUV being driven by Glenn Bo, 41, of Wallkill. A sedan coming the other way operated by Jeryl May, 45, of Wallkill, attempted to avoid the accident, but struck the SUV./OSD_

Lawrence was admitted to the hospital for testing. Jenna Neri, 16, of Wallkill, a rear seat passenger in the car, and Bo were both airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Neri is suffering from head trauma and Bo sustained a knee fracture and back injury. May was treated and released for minor injuries.5kI|8M

The scene was processed by the Troop F Collision Reconstruction Unit and Troop F Forensic Investigation Unit, with the State Police BCI investigating the incident. Also assisting at the scene was the Town of Shawangunk Police Department and the Wallkill Fire Department.T1
